Support for victims of hate incidents

Support for the victimsSupport provided to the victim

  • Believing the victim and taking them seriously
  • Referring the victim to an agency that will support them, if the victim provides their personal details
  • Taking action against the perpetrators or suspects

You don't need to give your personal details to ARCH so you can stay anonymous. It is up to you how many details you give to ARCH. If you are the victim and you want some support from one of the ARCH partner organisations, then you will need to give some contact details so that they can contact you to arrange the support. All details given to ARCH remain confidential and will only be given to an organisation, if you say that they can.

Research interviews with victims and witnesses of hate crime

Victim Support’s victims’ services advocacy project aims to ensure that the elected police and crime commissioners being introduced in England and Wales in November 2012 give priority to victims’ and witnesses’ issues, needs, and services in their planning, budgeting, and commissioning decisions.
Victims' Services Advocate - Tim Kell covers Northumbria, and he is seeking to recruit participants for our qualitative research into the service needs of victims and witnesses of hate crime. Interviews will be in January and early February. The research will inform our recommendations to the candidates for police and crime commissioner.
Tim would be grateful for agencies’ help in identifying potential participants. Interview by telephone is an option.

Further information can be found in the following documents:

ARCH Operational Support Group
These meetings are held every 3 months and representatives from all the partner organisations are invited. The group allows partners to discuss any issues and provide feedback about the ARCH system.

ARCH Case Analysis Group
At this meeting cases will be dip-sampled bi-monthly to check that all the organisations in the ARCH Sunderland partnership are working well together and that each organisation is doing what they have said they would do in their Service Level Agreement.
